FREQUENTLY AXE-D QUESTIONS

IS AXE THROWING SAFE?

Safety is our number one priority. To reduce bounce-backs, our axe handles are made of wood instead of composite material, and our mats are non-elastic with OSB below them. Guests are required to listen to a quick safety speech before entering the bay, where only two throwers are permitted at the same time. If a guest is deemed a hazard by not listening to our coaches, being identified as too intoxicated, or not following the safety protocols described by our staff, they will not be permitted to throw.

AXES AND ALCOHOL?
Axe throwing is in a controlled environment. You are allowed to consume alcohol while participating in the axe throwing. However, any participant that is deemed intoxicated will not be able to participate.

DO YOU HAVE ANY THROWING TIPS?
1. Line up in the same spot in relation to the black line
2. Grip the axe just tight enough for control, but loose enough for an easy release
3. Keep the axe straight (and keep your elbow in!)
4. Release at eye level and follow through!

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?
You will receive a full refund if you cancel up to 24 hours in advance of your booking time. Last minute cancellations will not be refunded but can be applied to a future reservation. Private parties and corporate events have a custom cancellation policy in your personalized contract.

WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR AXE THROWING?
You will want to make your reservation online here. Once you have made your reservation, you will want to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of your reservation. Everyone is required to sign a liability waiver. Guests under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a consent form for their minor, and a parent/guardian must be on premise for the duration of the reservation. Once the liability waivers are completed, you will listen to a safety demonstration from your axe coach. The axe coach will stay with you and your group for the entire reservation to make sure that everyone is safe and handle your game play.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Closed-toe shoes are required for axe throwing. We recommend a comfortable shirt that gives you full range of motion for throwing axes.

HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO THROW AN AXE?
Ages 12+ are allowed to throw an axe on Sundays if they have the strength and coordination to effectively throw a hatchet as deemed by our axe coaches. All children must be under the immediate control of an adult, and a liability waiver must be signed for every minor by a parent or guardian. 

DO YOU NEED A RESERVATION TO ENTER WICKED AXE?
No, you do not need to have a reservation or participate in any of the activities to enter the venue. All food and beverage service is through our bar. Click here to see our dining menu or our drink menu. We do not accept dining reservations. Tables and chairs are available on a first come first served basis.

IS AXE THROWING ACCESSIBLE?
Throwing our 1.5-pound hatchets is about finesse, not strength, meaning anybody can join in on the fun!

CAN I CHANGE THE NUMBER OF THROWERS IN MY RESERVATION?
If you need to increase or decrease the number of throwers in your reservation, please email us at guestservices@wicked-axe.com or call us at 978.241.4814. Please note that the group size of your booking lets us know how many bays you will require. If the number of throwers stays within the group range, you're good to go.

DO I NEED EXPERIENCE TO JOIN A LEAGUE?
No experience necessary! Joining a league is how you get better. Our axe throwing community is very friendly and will assist new throwers in the league process.

ARE SPECTATORS ALLOWED?
Absolutely! Everyone is welcome. There is no charge for spectators, and you only need to pay for people participating in the axe throwing.

CAN WE TAKE PICTURES AND VIDEOS?
Definitely! We strongly encourage it. We would also love for you to tag us on Facebook or Instagram!

CAN I RENT THE ENTIRE VENUE?
Yes! You can rent out the entire venue. Please contact our Special Events Coordinator on the pricing and availability. Or fill out our private party form located on our private party page.
